Job description

The purpose of the internship is for the intern to support the work of strategic partnerships and development finance in the Resident Coordinator (RCO) office.

The intern will assist in providing technical support in the coordination and implementation of the partnership strategy.

Responsibilities:

The intern supports the RCO in the following activities:

Provides substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UN Country Team (UNCT) partnerships
Provide support in the design of the UNCT’s Joint Mobilization of Resources for the UNSDCF

Provides substantive support for funding to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Supporting the design and implementation of the SDG platforms
Support the projects/or activities to be carried out by the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Group
Assist in identifying key areas of partnership support to UNCT, outcome groups and thematic groups
Support the design of presentations and publications to share with partners
Identify global best practices that can leverage the leverage of multi-stakeholder partners in South Africa
Create a repository of partnership engagement, lessons learned, success stories and gaps to improve the use of strategic partnerships

Contribute to efforts to build partnerships in support of the implementation of all UN activities (private sector, foundations and trusts, civil society, research / academia / think tanks)
Qualifications:

University degree in:

development studies,
Development Economics/Finance,
business administration or public administration,
Sustainable development,
Social Sciences,
Education,
communication,
or related field.
Competencies:

Excellent organizational skills and analytical skills
Excellent communication and editorial skills for effective reporting

Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to work in an intercultural environment that requires flexibility

Knowledge of UN system institutions is an asset
