Description of the practices

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB), in collaboration with South African Bank Note Company (RF) Proprietary Limited (SABN), actively contributes to addressing the country’s skills shortages in technical and engineering fields through its Program of Work Integrated Learning (WILP) .

WILP is an internship and apprenticeship program intended to provide selected applicants with maximum training exposure within the engineering and technical fields available within SARB and its note-producing subsidiary, SABN, preparing them for their national diploma and business exam.

Participants will be based at SARB Head Office in Pretoria, SABN in Pretoria North, and SARB Cash Centers located in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. Participants will receive a work-based learning stipend for the duration of the program.

The following internship opportunities are open for applications:

Craftsman:

Higher education and training college students with at least an N4 certificate requiring 36 months of practical work experience to obtain an occupational trade qualification or a trade test.
The disciplines that will be considered are Electricity, Electronics, Mechanics, Plumbing, HVAC and Carpentry.
Technical:

Students from Universities of Technology with at least an S4 who require 12 months of practical work experience as a requirement to complete their national diplomas.
The disciplines to be considered are Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
