South African Police Service (SAPS) – invites unemployed graduates to apply for trainee/internship program 2022

Description of the practices
Appointment Law: SAPS Law, 1995 (Law No. 68 of 1995).

The following training programs are available:
Phase 1: Basic Training (9 months)
Basic training at a training academy as a police trainee
Stipend: R4500 per month
Phase 2: Parole (12 months)
After successful completion of basic training, you will be appointed to the rank of Constable
Salary: R189 279 per year
Requirements: Applicants must:
Be in possession of a Grade 12 Certificate / National Certificate (Vocational)
Degree/Diploma in any field of study (minimum 3-year national diploma/degree) registered in the national database of student records at NQF level 6 or higher;
Be fluent in at least two of the official languages, one of which must be English;
Between eighteen (18) and less than thirty (30) years of age
Have no prior criminal convictions or pending criminal cases and must allow fingerprinting and background checks to be conducted and found fit for appointment;
Not have any tattoo mark that is visible and/or irreconcilable with the objectives of the Service;
Be prepared to take the oath of office;
Complete and pass a medical exam;
Complete and pass a physical fitness assessment;
Submit to a psychological and Integrity evaluation determined by the National Commissioner and meet the profile of a police officer;
Be prepared to receive the training determined by the National Commissioner;
Be prepared to serve and be trained anywhere in the Republic of South Africa.
Successful candidates will be trained at any SAPS Academy in South Africa and will be placed at any Police Station/Police Unit in South Africa after completing basic training. Applicants who previously served in a Government Department and were terminated as a result of misconduct are excluded.
In view of the physical demands of the Basic Apprenticeship Program for Police Development, applicants with chronic illnesses, physical disabilities or any other health condition that may lead to the interruption of the Training Program, will be excluded from participation in the program. Failure to disclose conditions by such applicants will result in their removal from the program upon determination of conditions.

Keep in mind:
The Criminal Law (Forensic Proceedings) Amendment Act, Act 37 of 2013 requires all new appointments to the South African Police Service from 31 January 2015 to provide a buccal (inside cheek) swab to determine your forensic DNA profile. The forensic DNA profile derived from the sample will be uploaded to the National Forensic DNA Database Elimination Index.
