Description of learning
Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Dispensary Support Trainee to join the team. The main objective of this is to employ students who are capable of doing and completing the basic pharmacy assistant course.
This course will equip students to understand the underlying principles of all major areas related to the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing and promotes the notion of quality in workplace learning.
Includes but is not limited to:
The sale of Schedule 1 drugs or scheduled substances.
Assist with unpacking and merchandising of stock and cleaning of OTC dispensers and shelves approved by the responsible pharmacist.
Other functions assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
Ensure accurate picking/packaging/labeling and verification of medications and take into account common dosages as well as important drug interactions.
Make sure a pharmacist checks that all medications are correct and signed by a pharmacist.
Follow up with patients regarding script follow-up reports as requested by the dispensary manager and follow-up appointments.
Assist with call center scripts and patient service phone calls.
Provide information to people in order to promote health.
Assist with Chronic Medication Scheme Authorization, HIV and AIDS, and Oncology.
Report low/out of stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager.
Receive stock from the dispensary in accordance with the SOP established by the company.
Requirements:
Grade 12 with Mathematics (HG), Life Sciences/Physical Sciences
Obtained at least a 50% average
Competencies:
English and second language: reading, writing and speaking.
Time management, driven by deadlines, dealing with pressure, attention to detail.
Good communication skills, listening, customer service/focus, problem solving, teamwork, conflict management, leading by example, responsibility, professional conduct, trustworthiness and honesty.
Computer, numerical skills.
