Description of the internship

We are looking for a young and dynamic Mine Closure Intern who will help conduct mine closure liability assessments and develop mine closure strategies and plans. In addition to this, the candidate will be required to identify and calculate mine closure costs.
Develop mine closure strategies, plans, policies and procedures.
Carry out a gap analysis on the client’s mine closure strategy and provide a report on the findings.
Provide advice and guidance to the client regarding the implementation of the mine closure plan.
Effectively carry out the management of closure-related projects using the organization’s methodology and principles to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and against our quality standards.
Develop and implement mine closure project plans, in consultation with the client, to guide decommissioning and restoration/rehabilitation activities.
Calculate mine closure costs that meet regulatory requirements and provide a management framework for our clients to manage the construction costs and operational phases of the mine.
Perform audits and reviews in terms of client’s mine closure plans and assessments.
Assess and monitor mine closure plans throughout the various stages of the mine life.
Develop alternative mine closure measures to remedy the impact of the selected mine development.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Carry out Business Development and Marketing initiatives.
Ratings:
Bachelor’s degree Engineering/Environmental Sciences or similar.
MSc. Degree would be beneficial.
A certificate in GIS would be beneficial.
Experience with Model Maker Systems would be beneficial.
You must have a valid driver’s license
Requirements:
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong numerical ability.
Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.

Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and prepared to obtain other vaccinations that may be required by clients and for travel purposes.
