Description of the practices

The CSIR has an internship opportunity for an intern at the Research Center for Emerging Digital Technologies for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (EDT4IR) within the Cluster of Next Generation Companies and Institutions.

The purpose of the internship is to provide graduates with the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience providing technical support to the research and development team with the design, development and implementation of DLT system architecture and solutions. This position is based in Pretoria.

Responsibilities:

Under supervision, the intern will:

Develop innovative solutions in DLT and stay well versed in new technologies in the evolving DLT space;
Contribute to the results of science, engineering and technology (SET) activities, e.g. reports, guidelines, system requirements, peer-reviewed publications, and software and technology packages;
Support research work related to DLT;
Carry out desktop research and literature searches;
Carry out the collection and capture of data;
Keep up-to-date in the field of specialization regarding new approaches in tools, methods or technologies.
Required Education:

A bachelor’s degree in:
Engineering in Computer Science,
electrical/electronic engineering,
Information technology
or related field
An honors or master’s degree will be advantageous;
Skills and competencies:

Knowledge of DLT and software development at DLT Technologies will be advantageous;
Good understanding of computer science fundamentals and programming skills;
Good quantitative skills (mathematics/statistics/computer science);
Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team;
Orientation to problem solving, to the search for solutions;
Good communication, presentation and writing skills.
