We also understand that the world of work has and will continue to change and to keep pace and progress within the organization you will need more than just hard (technical) skills, so during your time at ABB South Africa equip you with Soft Skills that they will allow you to connect, create your identity and promote yourself in any work environment. In addition to formally learning about our products through our online Learning Management System and our classroom training (10%), you will spend the majority of your time working with our real products and systems (70%) as well as You’ll be exposed to experts and industry leaders who will be available to answer your questions and provide career guidance (20%).
For the 2022 intake, we are looking for graduates in the following areas:
Bachelor of Training:
Corporate Marketing and Communications Function: You will work in a department that handles all of our corporate branding, communications and events.
Logistics or supply chain management: You will work in a department that handles our transportation, trade and logistics and supply chain management,
Human Resource Management: You will work in a department that does our Employee Lifecycle Management, Learning and Development, Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, and Industrial Relations.
Finance or Accounting: You will work in a department that does our business control and accounts payable.
Occupational Health and Safety – You will work in a department that carries out all of our health and safety campaigns and ensures that ABB is a safe working environment.
Information Technology or Information Systems: You will work in the IT department and manage the processes from start to finish.
Trainee Engineer:
Electrical Engineering: You will gain exposure to Switchgear Testing in all areas; Primary, secondary, modular, and commissioning, you will also be exposed to working with electrical and mechanical designs for switches.
Mechanical Engineering – You will gain exposure to the basic design, drafting, electrical and mechanical operation of electric motors.
Control and Instrumentation – Exposure includes working with control systems, field instrumentation, and actuators. And the Design and Commissioning of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Industrial Engineering – You will gain exposure and learn about our factory operations, time studies, and process improvements.
Computer Engineering: Exposure across the business to drive the development and promotion of the Fourth Industrial Revolution – ABB Ability.

Engineering Trainee Program Qualification:
BSc, B-tech or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial and Computer Engineering.
Functional Internship Program:
Bachelor’s/Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Health and Safety, and Marketing.
Maximum 2 years of experience.
Have the ability to solve problems, be creative and innovative.
Your interpersonal skills must complement your leadership skills with a strong self-confidence and a hunger to learn.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
