Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) invites applications for its 2025 Learnership Programme in Visual Merchandising. This 12-month structured learning initiative presents an opportunity for young, unemployed South Africans to gain practical experience and formal training in the commercial sector, within one of the world’s most recognised and respected global brands.
The Learnership Programme is designed to provide participants with foundational skills, workplace experience, and a recognised qualification in merchandising and sales. The programme combines classroom-based theoretical training with hands-on experience at various retail locations, preparing learners for future employment in the retail and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries.
Programme Overview
- Duration: 12 Months
- Qualification: Learners must obtain a minimum of 120 credits to meet the requirements of the qualification.
- Focus Area: Visual Merchandising
- Location: Opportunities available in Eastern Cape, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal
- Reporting Line: The learner will report directly to an Account Developer.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes
During the learnership, participants will:
- Gain practical skills in product merchandising, including display setup, stock rotation, and promotional execution.
- Collaborate with members of the sales team to support daily merchandising activities.
- Work closely with an Account Developer to understand sales processes, business goals, and customer service principles.
- Interact with store personnel and customers to gain insights into consumer behaviour and market trends.
- Receive on-the-job coaching, feedback, and formal assessments as part of their development journey.
Interaction and Collaboration
This role involves regular interaction both within and outside the company, including:
- Sales Team Members – for collaboration on daily tasks, teamwork, and mutual support.
- Sales Account Developers – to receive ongoing mentorship, operational guidance, and performance feedback.
- Consumers – to understand customer preferences, purchase behaviour, and how to tailor product displays to maximize engagement and sales.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with:
- A minimum of 40% in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
- A minimum of 40% in English and a second language.
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Be currently unemployed at the time of appointment.
- Be available to work six days per week, as per operational requirements.
- Be an Employment Equity (EE) candidate as defined by the Employment Equity Act.
- Have no criminal record or adverse credit history.
- Be willing to undergo background checks, including criminal, identity, and qualification verification.
- Not be registered for any other learnership or full-time studies during the learnership period.
- Must not have previously completed the same qualification or learnership at any other institution or organisation.
- Possession of a valid South African driver’s licence will be advantageous, particularly for candidates who may be required to travel between retail outlets.
- A post-matric qualification in Sales and Marketing is highly advantageous, though not a strict requirement.
