Internship Description

Capricorn VET College is inviting applications from suitably qualified applicants to apply for its Communications, Media and Public Relations Internship for 2023.

This role requires an energetic, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual who can successfully manage multiple tasks. The candidate must be a team player with an understanding of the TVET industry, a willingness to learn and the ability to multitask while adapting to changing priorities. The successful candidate will undergo a structured development program over a period of 12 months.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Writing, distributing and presenting speeches, press releases, media alerts and other stories, editing and formatting photos and videos for social media and the website, updating the university website and social media platforms regularly, design graphic, media relations, digital asset management, preparing weekly reports and maintaining regular contact with supervisor, collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions and tools for public relations and communications, event coordination and other communications and support tasks administrative as assigned.

Required education:

You must have a degree or diploma in:

Communication
Public relations
Journalism
Journalism
Skills and competencies:

Possess excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills.
Strong visual skills and some experience designing materials for print and online.
Understanding of the basic principles of Public Relations or communication
Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications. Adobe InDesign and Photoshop proficiency is highly desirable
Ability to communicate professionally with the press and public contacts.
Understanding of social media platforms and strategy.
Crisis analysis and crisis resolution.
