Description of the practices

We have a vacancy for 2 interns in our Seabird Rehabilitation Department and 1 intern in the Education Department at our Gqeberha center from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. SANCCOB will host these interns and the hiring company will pay a monthly stipend.

The following internship opportunities are open for applications:

Seabird Internship:

Positions require one person to assist on site and duties will include general facility maintenance, seabird handling, feeding and administering medication to a variety of seabird species, food preparation, admissions and record keeping, to name a few.
Keep in mind that this job is very physical.
Preference will be given to candidates with a background or qualification in zoology, marine biology or conservation.
The education internship

The position requires someone with experience in education, especially with children.
The candidate will work closely with the education supervisor and assist with the facilitation of environmental education lessons, volunteer and intern coordination, administration, data entry, front desk duties, and resource development for the education department.
Preference will be given to candidates with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as basic computer skills.
Candidate Requirements:

The candidate must be a South African citizen, between 18 and 35 years of age.
Preference will be given to capital candidates as prescribed by the funder.
The candidate must be unemployed for a minimum of 6 months, and a driver’s license and own travel arrangements are essential.
Candidates must be on site 5 days a week (including weekends and holidays) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. m. to 5 p.m. m.
