About the Learnership Programme
The Short-Term Insurance Learnership Programme is an intensive 12-month learning experience designed for motivated, ambitious individuals who are eager to enter the financial services industry. Learners will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the programme and will gain valuable hands-on experience within Momentum’s business operations.
Participants will be placed in functional business units within Momentum, where they will be exposed to a range of practical tasks and responsibilities. These units may include, but are not limited to:
- Finance
- Information Technology
- Marketing
- Human Resources
- Client Services
- Operations
- Legal and Compliance
- Investment Management
In addition to job-specific exposure, learners will participate in formal skills development sessions that focus on workplace readiness, professional behaviour, communication techniques, and problem-solving strategies. These elements are designed to support personal and professional development while enhancing long-term employability.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the learnership:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Between the ages of 18 and 25 years old
- Currently unemployed and not enrolled in any form of tertiary education or employment
- Must not have previously participated in the YES Programme
- Must possess a completed tertiary qualification (Degree, Diploma, or Certificate) in one of the following disciplines:
- Finance, Accounting, Tax, or Auditing
- Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Python, SQL, Business Analysis, Business Intelligence, or Project Management
- Law (LLB or equivalent)
- Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or Learning & Development
- Investment Management or related fields
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is essential
Key Responsibilities
Throughout the learnership period, participants will be expected to:
- Work under the supervision of experienced professionals to acquire on-the-job training
- Engage in administrative and operational tasks related to the assigned business unit
- Contribute to team-based projects and initiatives
- Participate in training sessions and assessments related to the learnership curriculum
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism in all interactions, both internal and external
- Take personal ownership of learning and development, including seeking and applying feedback to improve performance
