Minimum Entry Requirements
To be considered for the Learnership, applicants must meet the following basic criteria:
- Hold a completed Matric / Grade 12 qualification
- Be willing and available to work retail hours, including weekends, public holidays, and shifts
- Have basic computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Desirable (but not essential) experience:
- Previous exposure to the beauty or cosmetics industry will be beneficial
- Familiarity with customer service or retail environments will be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
As a Learnership participant, you will be expected to contribute meaningfully to store operations, while developing your technical and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Stock Control
- Monitor and manage expiry dates of products on display
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked and products are correctly rotated
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe storeroom
- Assist in stocktaking processes when required
- Report low stock levels, damaged or expired stock to supervisors promptly
- Ensure compliance with Dis-Chem’s stock control procedures
- Flatten empty boxes and dispose of packaging in designated areas
2. Merchandising
- Set up and maintain visually appealing displays in both window and in-store areas
- Apply pricing and labelling to products accurately
- Participate in promotional activities such as makeovers, product demonstrations, or spray promotions
- Maintain neat and consistent display layouts, keeping merchandising areas well-stocked and organized
- Assist with unloading and loading of stock as necessary
- Report any price discrepancies or issues to store management
3. Customer Service
- Provide warm, helpful, and professional assistance to customers at all times
- Operate the Cosmetics Point of Sale (POS) system to process purchases efficiently
- Offer customers advice based on product knowledge, while respecting their brand preferences
- Address and resolve customer stock or product queries courteously
- Strive to build lasting relationships with customers through excellent service
