National Youth Service (NYS) in Partnership with Cricket South Africa

The National Youth Service (NYS), in collaboration with Cricket South Africa, is offering an exciting opportunity for unemployed youth to participate in a six-month paid internship programme focused on community development through sport.

This initiative is designed to give young people the chance to gain valuable experience, develop crucial life and leadership skills, and grow their professional networks—all while serving their communities through sport-based activities. If you are between the ages of 18 and 35 and are ready to take the next step toward personal and professional growth, this opportunity may be the perfect fit for you.

Programme Overview

The internship will run for a period of six months, during which successful candidates will engage in structured activities aimed at promoting community development and supporting local sporting events. Interns will be expected to dedicate a minimum of 16 hours per week to programme-related activities. These may include assisting with organizing cricket matches, facilitating youth engagement in sports, and promoting health and wellness through physical activity.

In return for your service and commitment, you will receive:

Who Can Apply?

This internship opportunity is targeted specifically at young people who are eager to contribute to their communities and grow personally and professionally through sport. To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen
• Be aged between 18 and 35 years
• Be currently unemployed (not in education, employment, or training)
• Reside near one of the Cricket South Africa implementing sites listed below
• Not have participated in previous NYS programme phases

The programme will be implemented in several communities across South Africa. Applicants must live in or near the following areas to be considered:
