e-Registration for Matric Re-write 2026 June

Meta Description

Apply online for the 2026 Matric re-write. Learn who qualifies, subjects offered, exam dates, and how to register for the Senior Certificate.

Introduction

Many South Africans still dream of finishing matric.
However, life does not always go as planned.
Because of this, the Department of Basic Education created a second chance.

The e-Registration for Grade 12 Senior Certificate – Matric re-write 2026 June gives adults and out-of-school youth a new opportunity.
More importantly, it allows candidates to improve results or complete unfinished subjects.

In addition, the amended Senior Certificate is equal to the current National Senior Certificate.
As a result, learners may qualify for university, TVET colleges, or other study options.

Therefore, if you missed matric or failed some subjects, this option matters.

What Is the Senior Certificate (Amended)?

Previously, the old Senior Certificate ended in June 2014.
However, many adults were left without a suitable qualification.

Because of this need, the Minister of Basic Education approved changes to the Senior Certificate.
Now, the qualification uses CAPS subjects from the National Curriculum Statement.

Importantly, the structure stays the same.
At the same time, the subjects align with the modern NSC system.

The first amended Senior Certificate exam was written in May/June 2015.
Since then, thousands of adults have benefited.

Who Can Apply for the Matric Re-write?
