Position Overview
The Tolcon Group invites young, motivated, and dedicated South African individuals to apply for an exciting Learnership opportunity within our Learning and Development (L&D) department, located at our Centurion office. This programme is designed to offer practical workplace experience to individuals seeking to develop their skills and build a career in the field of Learning and Development, Human Resources, and Organisational Training.
The successful candidate will be fully integrated into the daily operations of the L&D team and will receive hands-on training in the design, implementation, and management of learning solutions. This includes exposure to planning, preparing, coordinating, and evaluating both virtual and classroom-based training interventions.
This learnership is ideal for someone who is eager to grow professionally in a structured environment, contribute meaningfully to a team, and gain essential skills that will support their long-term career ambitions in training, learning facilitation, or people development.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35
- Must have successfully completed a Matric (Grade 12) qualification
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- No prior work experience is required, although a passion for learning and a willingness to develop professionally is essential
Preferred Competencies and Skills
The ideal candidate should possess or be willing to develop the following competencies:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Good planning, organisational, and time management capabilities
- High levels of attention to detail, particularly when it comes to data entry and document preparation
- Administrative competence, with the ability to manage training logistics and maintain accurate records
- A proactive approach to learning, with the ability to absorb new concepts and tools quickly
- Familiarity with digital platforms and a keen interest in using creative tools such as Canva and Clipchamp
- Willingness to engage in a structured training programme, while also contributing to team outputs
Workplace Environment
This role is primarily office-based and requires a standard level of physical activity associated with administrative and computer-based tasks. The working environment is collaborative, supportive, and aligned with typical corporate settings.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Under the guidance and mentorship of the Learning and Development Manager, the learner will be exposed to a broad range of responsibilities, including:
- Assisting in the design and development of engaging and impactful learning programmes aligned with business goals
- Supporting the continuous improvement and update of training materials and employee development resources
- Assisting with the preparation and execution of both virtual and in-person training sessions
- Providing logistical and administrative support for training events, including scheduling, material preparation, and attendance tracking
- Updating corporate training materials using digital and authoring tools such as Adobe Acrobat, iSpring Suite, and MS Office applications
- Participating in needs analysis activities to help identify skill gaps and learning opportunities within the organisation
- Assisting in tracking individual development plans and compiling reports on learner progress
- Communicating with external training providers and assessing their fit for delivering specific training needs
- Supporting the evaluation of training effectiveness and helping implement improvements based on feedback
- Participating in regular team meetings, learning sessions, and collaborative projects within the L&D function
