About the Role and What You Will Do
As a Graduate Trainee at ABB, you will embark on a structured and comprehensive learning journey designed to develop your skills and expertise in your chosen field. This role offers a unique blend of practical, on-the-job training and formal learning through a hybrid work model that combines time spent both at ABB offices and through external educational institutions.
Throughout the programme, you will be exposed to various aspects of the business, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience by working closely with diverse teams and departments. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Driving Operational Excellence: You will play a key role in improving operational efficiency by closely tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), monitoring order progress, and taking proactive measures to ensure timely delivery of solutions and services.
- Process Improvement: Observing workflows, identifying trends and bottlenecks in the inquiry and order processes, and collaborating with internal teams to implement enhancements that improve overall business performance.
- Skill Development: Actively participating in training sessions, applying newly acquired skills, and seeking continuous feedback to accelerate your professional growth.
- Team Collaboration: Engaging in regular team meetings and company-wide training programs to stay updated on ABB’s policies, best practices, and strategic initiatives.
This position supports ABB’s Process Automation Business Area within South Africa and requires close collaboration with various internal stakeholders, including business leaders and cross-functional teams.
Areas Where You Will Gain Experience
Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to rotate through and contribute to various departments, allowing you to build a broad skill set and discover where your strengths and interests lie. Possible functional areas include:
- Corporate Marketing and Communication: Gain experience in managing corporate branding, internal and external communications, and organizing company events.
- Supply Chain Management and Logistics: Learn about transport coordination, trade compliance, and supply chain operations that ensure products reach our customers efficiently.
- Human Resource Management: Support functions related to employee lifecycle management, learning and development initiatives, compensation and benefits administration, payroll processing, and industrial relations.
- Finance and Accounting: Work alongside professionals managing business controlling, accounts payable, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Occupational Health & Safety: Assist in driving safety awareness campaigns and maintaining a workplace environment that prioritizes health and safety.
- Information Technology and Information Systems: Support IT operations including system management, process automation, and technology deployment.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will be a recent university graduate who is eager to learn and grow within a professional environment. To be considered, you must meet the following qualifications and attributes:
- South African citizen with a completed Bachelor’s degree (BA or BCom) in one of the following fields: Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Health & Safety, Marketing, or Communication.
- A maximum of two years’ post-graduation working experience.
- Demonstrated academic excellence with a minimum average of 65% throughout your studies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Proven problem-solving abilities, creative thinking, and innovation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership potential, self-confidence, and a genuine desire to learn and develop.
