The Dis-Chem Pharmacy store has opportunities available for a dispensary support student to join the team. The main objective of this is to employ students who are capable of doing and completing the basic pharmacy assistant course.
This course will equip students to understand the underlying principles of all major areas related to the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing and promotes the notion of quality in workplace learning.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the compounding, handling, or preparation of a non-sterile medication or scheduled substance in accordance with a formulation and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist.
Assist with unpacking and merchandising of stock and cleaning of OTC dispensers and shelves approved by the responsible pharmacist.
Other functions assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
Learn to interpret scripts accurately and to act professionally and responsibly and within legal requirements according to the Pharmaceutical Council of South Africa.
Ensure accurate drug selection, packaging, labeling, and control, and take into account common dosages as well as important drug interactions.
Make sure a pharmacist checks all medications for accuracy and signs off on them.
Assist in stock control (manage cleanliness and organization of shelf packaging and drug expiration dates) of Schedule 1 through Schedule 5 medications or scheduled substances.
Follow up with patients regarding script follow-up report as requested by dispensary manager and follow-up appointments.
Assist with call center scripts and patient service phone calls.
Provide information to people in order to promote health.
Assist with Chronic Medication Scheme Authorization, HIV and AIDS, and Oncology.
Report low/out of stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager.
Receive stock from the dispensary in accordance with the SOP established by the company.
Minimum requirements:
Grade 12: Matric or a Higher Certificate in Mathematics (HG), Life Sciences or Physical Sciences and obtained at least a 50% average
Competencies:
English and second language: reading, writing and speaking.
Time management, deadline orientation, handling pressure, attention to detail.
Good communication skills, listening, customer service/focus, problem solving, teamwork, conflict management, leading by example, responsibility, professional conduct, trustworthy and honest.
Computer, numerical skills.
