CSIR Masters Studentship Opportunity
The CSIR offers an annual internship-student linked through the Southern Ocean Climate-Carbon Observatory (SOCCO), an interdisciplinary program organized by Smart Places.
Internship- Masters Scholarship: Earth Systems Sciences: Ocean and Climate
These opportunities are found in a variety of disciplines that address the research needs of Earth systems science with a focus on the oceans, including research in oceanography, physics, marine biology, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, computer science, and engineering.
Interns must complete and qualify for the Master’s scholarship program, apply for an NRF scholarship, and gain admission to a university.
These opportunities will be located in Cape Town.
Qualification requirements
A bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, computer science, statistics, oceanography, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or engineering;
Basic computing and coding experience (eg Matlab / Python) will be advantageous;
It will be advantageous to understand the basic statistics for processing large data sets;
Benefit from knowledge / familiarity with performing data processing, analysis and visualization in Matlab or Python;
Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation);
Be independent and able to work under pressure.
